PM demands stringent measures to distribute public funds

The Ministry of Finance reported at the Government's monthly meeting in Hanoi that as of July 31, nearly 186.85 trillion VND (7.98 billion USD) of investment capital sourced from the state budget had been disbursed, representing 34.47 percent of this year's target, a slight decrease from the same period last year.

Some central agencies and eleven localities at the provincial level reported a disbursement rate greater than fifty percent. In the meantime, 41 of the 51 ministries and central agencies and 18 of the 63 localities had a lower rate than the national average of 34.47 percent.

PM Chinh stated that the disbursement of public investment is a difficult task, so the Government has consistently prioritized it.

In the past five years, the seven-month disbursement rate has typically fluctuated between 35 and 40 percent. It was relatively high in 2020 and 2021. In contrast, in addition to medium-term investment capital, funding for the socioeconomic recovery and development program need to be disbursed this year.

He emphasized that strong determination, efforts, and actions are necessary.

He demanded that ministers, sector heads, and provincial-level People's Committee chairs promote their sense of responsibility and sense of their role in the work.

After the meeting, the Government will issue a resolution on boosting the disbursement, as well as the national target programs on poverty reduction, new-style countryside building, and socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. The PM assigned tasks to ministries, sectors, and localities.
