HCM City and Seoul to boost cooperation

DNVN - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai hosted a reception for Oh Se-Hoon, the mayor of Seoul, the Republic of Korea (RoK), on August 4, during which the two parties discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two cities.

Mai expressed his delight at the strengthening ties between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea, as well as between the southern hub and the Northeast Asian nation, at the event.

Currently, the Republic of Korea is the third-largest investor in the city, with over 1,900 valid projects worth over $5.3 billion. Seven Korean cities, including Seoul, have established friendly and cooperative ties with Ho Chi Minh City.

The host expressed his hope that Seoul will continue to enhance cooperation and exchange knowledge in the fields of urban management, intelligent traffic, personnel training, entrepreneurship, innovation, and tourism.

The city leader pledged to create optimal conditions for Seoul firms to invest and conduct business in the southern hub, while recommending that the mayor of Seoul encourage Korean businesses, particularly those from Seoul, to actively seek cooperation opportunities with Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.

Oh Se-Hoon, for his part, affirmed that he would encourage companies from Seoul to invest in Ho Chi Minh City in fields such as urban transport, tourism, and smart cities in which HCM City is interested and Seoul is strong.

He suggested that both cities investigate establishing cooperation agreements in areas of shared interests and strengths.

 

The mayor wished that HCM City would continue to create favorable conditions for Korean businesses, including those from Seoul.
