Regarding the development of renewable energy, which has garnered the attention of the United States and a number of other major nations, Kerry expressed his hope that Vietnam will join the global energy transition race.

In agreement with his guest's ideas, Nen stated that the Vietnamese Party and State have always given special attention to combating climate change and promoting the use of clean energy. In recent years, the country has also signed and issued numerous documents pertaining to these issues.

As the largest energy consumer in Vietnam, HCM City is acutely aware of these problems. Nevertheless, the energy transition still faces a number of challenges, including policies and infrastructure that do not meet the transition's requirements, he said.

According to the municipal leader, the city has implemented a number of measures to find resources for the development of renewable energy. Furthermore, the city is studying and will soon make proposals and recommendations to competent authorities in order to solve problems relating to mechanisms and policies to facilitate the development of clean energy in the city and throughout Vietnam.
